I had a creative spurt yesterday and got busy on my March goals list. I purchased The Bag Making Bible a few months ago and just kept looking at the photos. I decided to try the Messenger Bag as a gift for someone who probably doesn't read my blog but I'm not going to mention their name just in case. It is HUGE on the interior and fits my laptop plus at least 2 other books. I didn't do the zipper pocket but did put in a pencil pocket and an elastic topped pocket. There is plenty of room for storage but next time I make this pattern I think I will add a pocket to the back of the bag. You could also easily put a zipper pocket under the flap. I only installed 1 closure but it works well to keep the bag closed.
From ironing the fabrics and cutting out the pattern to final assembly it took about 3 hours. Still gave me time to complete my taxes in the evening. A very productive day overall.
I think I'm going to sign up for another swap. The signups for the Pretty Little Pouch swap on Flickr start tomorrow in case anyone else is interested.

Enjoy your week!

What a neat bag! I love the flap fabric - looks like applique but not. Wonderful gift it will be.
